Jiminy Cricket

"What's a conscience! I'll tell ya! A conscience is that still small voice that people won't listen to. That's the trouble with the world today..." ~ Jiminy Cricket

If only the world had more Jiminy Crickets. While I know the actual Jiminy Cricket character is fiction, I have always tried to teach my kids to follow their inner Jiminy. I hope I've done a good job. If we would all remember to take ownership of our choices and deal with the consequences of our choices, life would be so much better! Make sure to add Jiminy Cricket to your afghan to help you remember to always let your conscience be your guide. This pattern is 40x84 blocks.

Gepetto

"Pinocchio: Father, whatcha crying for?
[Gepetto hears him, but his mind doesn't get the message]
Gepetto: Because...you're dead, Pinocchio.
Pinocchio: No! No, I'm not.
Gepetto: Yes. Yes, you are. Now, lie down...
Pinocchio: But father, I'm alive. See?
[Looks at himself]
Pinocchio: And...and I'm ...i'm real. I'm a real boy!
[THAT makes Gepetto look up]
Gepetto: You're alive! And...and you are a real boy!"

Even before becoming a parent, there was something about Gepetto that tugged at my heart strings. Pinocchio made me very upset when he ran off both times. The fear and terror Gepetto felt when Pinocchio didn't come home is every parent's worst nightmare. Trust me, I've been there. Thankfully Gepetto's dream came true and Pinocchio became home and became a real boy. Add Gepetto to your afghan today. This block is 40x84.

Cleo

"Geppetto: Everybody has to sleep. Figaro goes to sleep - and cleo - and besides, tomorrow, you've got to go to school.
Pinocchio: Why?
Geppetto: Oh, to learn things and get smart.
Pinocchio: Why?
Geppetto: [Starts to fall asleep] Because.
Pinocchio: Oh."

As a parent it can often be exhausting teaching our children all they need to know, and answering all of the incessant "why" questions. Thankfully, Ms. Cleo here never asks why, she just swims in her bowl, and sleeps in her castle. She truly is a beauty. Add her to your pinocchio afghan today! This block is 80x84 blocks. Depending on the type of stitch she can be her very own afghan if you want.

Anyone that has played with dolls has often wished that they could truly come true. This is the story of Pinocchio. The Pinocchio Graphgan starts today and the patterns will be released almost on a weekly basis. I hope you enjoy this crochet-a-long and please feel free to share your work on my blog, group or facebook page.
