Snow White crochet-a-long

Happy almost Halloween!!! Today I am pleased to announce the beginning of the next crochet-a-long (cal). Earlier in the year I had decided that I wanted to feature many of the wonderful Disney movies individually in an afghan. With so many wonderful and beloved movies out there deciding where to start on this massive journey was a challenge. My solution...start at the beginning. So today I am officially announcing the year of Disney. Well, it will be slightly more than 1 year. I hope you all can keep up because we are going to be moving very quickly through these patterns (I hope I can keep up with the pace too. 😝) We will be starting with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This CAL will begin on 11/1....4 short days from now. There are a total of 11 graphs that will be released over the course of the month of November. The order is as follows:

Baby - Block 12

The '67 Chevy Impala. A muscle car that when the engine is revved, the whole block hears it. This was John Winchester's car. He later gave the car to Dean. John originally planned on buying a VW Van, but because of Dean and Sam time traveling, Dean ended up convincing his dad to purchase the Impala. He late nicknamed the car Baby. Almost every adventure the Winchester brothers go on involves driving this car.

Get the Salt ~ Block 11

"Don't trust everything you see, even salt looks like sugar but if you make this mistake you will quickly realize your error once you take a taste" ~ unknown

Salt was one of the purest substances. Salt is used to preserve, and purify which is why it is used in paranormal lore to protect. Supernatural is not the first, nor will it be the last show to use salt in a ring for protection. The movie Hocus Pocus also says to form a ring of salt for protection. If both shows say it is true... if you hear something that goes bump in the night, don't be afraid to get the salt... you might need it.

Apple Pie - Block 10

Make you hungry? Yeah, me too. One thing that is mentioned or shown in almost every episode of Supernatural is pie...Apple pie. When the boys are researching they need pie. When they are troubled, they need pie. If they do not feel good, they need pie...Pie is an important cure-all. So go get you an apple pie and make your day better.

Dean Winchester - Block 9

"Life itself is worth living for. If you're not living that life you want, you fight for that life" ~ Jensen Ackles

Dean Winchester, the oldest son of John and Mary Winchester. He became a surrogate father to his little brother, Sam after his mother's death. John was so obsessed with finding the demon that killed Mary that he often left the Winchester boys alone and as such, Dean developed an overwhelming urge to protect Sam, even to the point of literally going to Hell or selling his soul to protect Sam. For Dean, family means more than anything else, even saving the world. Dean and Sam had the opportunity to close the Gates of Hell but closing those gate would have killed Sam and Dean stopped the process at the last minute. In Dean's mind, protecting Sam is his 1st and foremost job, even if that protection means deceiving Sam. Dean lives by the simple rule, Save people, hunt things, eat pie, and protect the family.

Zeppelin Rulez ~ Block 8

One of Dean's big trademarks is his love of music, and not just any music, but hard rock. At the beginning of the series, the Winchesters were helping out a family with a little boy. As Dean was leaving the boy, he says, "And don't forget Zeppelin Rulez!" I just knew that had to be a part of this afghan. After doing some research, I love the quote above, because it is also one of the major themes in the series. The Winchesters are constantly given two separate paths to choose from, and often they have to leave the road they are on to follow a different path which gives them different consequences. So just remember, if you don't like the path you have taken, change it... and ZEPPELIN RULEZ!

Bobby Singer ~ Block 7

There are not a lot of people in this world that can truly love another person's child as their own. Bobby Singer is once such individual. With John Winchester constantly on the move searching for the demon with yellow eyes that killed his wife, Bobby Singer took on the role of a father figure to the young Winchester boys. They would spend a lot of time with him, he taught them everything. He laughed with the boys, did research for Sam and Dean when they needed help, and loved them dearly. He wasn't afraid to scold Sam and Dean when they needed it, or protect them when it was necessary. He even delayed going to heaven when he died so he could continue to help the boys in their quest to save the world from the latest evil. Bobby was truly an amazing man.

Angel Wings ~ Block 6

In the world of Supernatural, Angels use humans as host bodies and while they "live" (relative term) their wings are not seen, but when they die, their wings spread out majestically from their body.

Castiel ~ Block 5

Oh, Castiel...Wherefore art thou Castiel? He has such good intentions, but as the saying goes, The world is paved with good intentions. He tries really hard to make good choices and do what's best for mankind, but it doesn't always work out that way. In his efforts to fix the world, he often makes matters worse. You can't fault them man for trying right?

Handprint ~ Block #4

When Dean went literally to Hell, Castiel grabbed hold of him and raised him up. The force it took left an handprint scar on Dean's arm. I like the idea of having someone protect me and raise me up if I fall.

Sam Winchester

Sam, Sammy, Sam... The man that was once fed demon blood to help take over the world... The man that fell in love with a demon...The man that really just wants to be normal. He literally went to hell to save Dean and the world... He is Lucifer's host body. He is the heart of the brothers. He looks for the good in the world, but has no problems sacrificing himself to save it. A selfless hero.

Devil's Trap ~ Block #2

"The Devil's trap is a mystical symbol used to immobilize and control demons. It is similar to a circle of salt but more powerful and persistent as it is usually etched or painted in place, and can't simply be brushed or blown away. If a demon walks inside the outer circle of a devil's trap, it cannot physically leave it, and is trapped" (Super-wiki).

All good hunters need to know how to make a devil's trap. This thing has saved Sam and Dean's lives on more than one occasion. It is useful to be able to torture those ugly demons, or to just keep the nasties away long enough to use a more powerful object like iron, or Ruby's knife. Just be aware, unless you are a demon you shouldn't have anything to fear.

Horcrux Block Pattern

"Well, you split your soul, you see, and hide part of it in an object outside the body. Then, even if one’s body is attacked or destroyed, one cannot die, for part of the soul remains earthbound and undamaged. Can you imagine... being immortal? Having your soul split into pieces... the pain, and torment that could cause? I can't imagine it. I guess I just don't have the guts to live on forever... but then again, I also am not one for world domination. In any case, that evil villan we all love to hate did it. Most people that attempted to create a horcrux could only do it one time, but not him... not "He Who Must Not Be Named". Nope, this dude had guts, and not just some wimpy guts, he had massive room filling guts, that allowed him to split his soul not once, not twice, not even thrice (three times), but SIX times. Yes, that's right! Six!!!!! Ok, so actually he did it seven times, but he didn't mean to create the last horcrux. That was an accident. When he tried to kill Harry, and his plan failed, he accidently created a horcrux in Harry.... Not exactly sure how it happened, but hey, I don't need to know. :-p. 

So, as you can see from the above picture there are only 6 horcrux's shown and didn't I just mention that he split his soul into 7 pieces? Well, the reason that there isn't a 7th pattern showing with these 6 is because #7 is Harry... again mentioned above. I have already released the Harry pattern so I felt it was kind of redundant to do it again... Make sense? Quiz time... How many horcrux's???

SEVEN!!!! Good job, now get your hooks and yarn out and start crocheting these amazing blocks.

***Just a quick note...Normally when I release a pattern I have both a 25x25 and 30x30 block, but to get more patterns out to the public quicker I will only be releasing the graphs in size 30x30. Many I already have smaller and eventually I will update the pdf, but for now, I hope this at least helps. ***

Supernatural ~ Join the Hunt

Supernatural Afghan

I don't know if anyone else is as excited as I am, but I am finally ready to unveil my Supernatural afghan layout. This crochet-a-long will start tomorrow, 8/1, and a new block will be released every week except for the 1st block, the title block. I plan on giving everyone 3 weeks to complete it since it is so big. I will release the new patterns every Monday @ 8:00am. I designed this afghan to be completed in the bobble stitch using a size "H" - 5.00 mm hook. Make sure to join our Facebook group for more inspiration, tips, and tricks.

Rubeus Hagrid Block

Hagrid is one of those characters that you love to love. He is the gentle giant, protector and friend of Harry Potter. He is a fierce defender of his friends and loved ones, and heaven forbid you cross him, you might just end up with a rat's tail. I hope you enjoy making the Hagrid block as much as I did.

Professor Albus Dumbledore Graph

"It is our choices that show us what we truly are far more than our abilities" ~ Albus Dumbledore

Professor Dumbledore has always been one of my favorite characters in the Harry Potter series. From the very beginning, you could tell that he truly loved young Harry. He treated Harry like a son, and as a father figure, he made choices that were sometimes great, sometimes not so great, just like any parent. **Spoiler** When he died, it nearly broke my heart. I hope you enjoy this graph.

**Note** From this point on, the pattern will no longer feature the finished product that the other patterns have. I will eventually update with the a picture of the finished product. I decided to forgo waiting for the finished product so I can get the graphs out quicker for those that have been patiently waiting.
