Chili Beans - Cowboy Style

Chili Beans - Cowboy style

Ingredients:
12 oz ground beef,
1 1/2 cups pinto beans, uncooked
6 cups water,
2 cloves garlic
1/4 onion or 1/4 c minced onion
2 Tbs chili powder
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
  • Sort through pinto beans and remove rocks and other gross stuff, and place in crock pot. Add water and turn on. (My crock pot doesn't cook well on medium, so I cook everything on high). Cook 4-8 hours, until beans are tender.
  • About 30 minutes before serving, brown ground beef and add garlic and onions. Once meat is brown, add to crock pot, along with chili powder, salt and pepper. Once beans are again boiling, dinner is ready.
Now, this has been a family favorite for years and years. Very simple, very effective. I usually have a lot of left overs, but it's still yummy even the day after.

Happy eating!
